Pancham Puriwala, Mumbai : One of the oldest food joint of this City Mumbai. Pancham thali which had four types of puris, five types of bhajis, kadi, dahi vada, gulab jamun, paneer pulao, papad and chaas. It serves the most authentic thali at nominal prices. The thali is not unlimited and add-ons are billed, but still the place is definitely value for money and a must-visit, especially for those missing the North Indian flavor in this part of the country. This restaurant is located opposite the CST station and is on the periphery of Fort. It holds the distinction of possibly being Mumbai's oldest running restaurant. It was started by a gentleman called Pancham. Legend says that he walked to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh over a span of 40 days. He came to the city and started a shack where he sold UP-styled pooris. His family has carried his legacy onward. The little shack has become a humble two storied restaurant where pooris are fried fresh all day.
