Masala Box Organisation An effort to show what goes into the Masala Box / Spice box in Indian households. This video shows the basic South Indian Masala box / Spice box which contains the Seasoning items used in daily South Indian cooking . Every home has its own arrangement of Masala box/spice box.. Basically the Masala box is.. keeping all the basic seasoning items in one place. The box may differ from house to house. It is arranged according to the daily needs in cooking and convenience. You will find 3 types of Masala box arrangements in the video with English subtitles. 1).. 1st BOX contains the basic seasoning items of South Indian cooking : mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chana dal, urad dal, methi seeds, redchillies, turmeric powder and hing . 2 ).. 2nd BOX shown in the video is the GARAM MASALA BOX which holds all the Garam masala spices : cloves (Laung) , Cinammon ( Dalchini), pepper corns, khus khus, fennel seeds (saunf), Mace (javithir or jajipatri),, star anise(chakra phool), Bay leaf, Kapok buds , Cardamom (elaichi) and so on.... These spices are not used in daily cooking. 3) .. 3 rd BOX contains all the powders which are used in daily cooking: Sambar powder, rasam powder, dhaniya powder, curry powder etc. Hope you will find the video helpful.
