I really liked the minecart off-ramp system by lemures3 located here (also linked in the video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qA7zO... but I wanted to wait at the off-ramp instead of being boosted through it after a certain amount of time so I tweaked the setup a bit and using some redstone logic I was able to create an intermediate switching station as opposed to a ramp that keeps boosting you along. Keep in mind that you can do this in a much smaller space, I just expanded the size so that it would be easier to show and explain. Sorry for the um's, uh's and pauses - I'm not used to VO commentary. Thanks for watching and um.... yea.
