The driver assist safety features in the 2018 Leaf should continue into 2019 and include the standard automatic emergency braking and the available automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, a driver attention alert system, and ProPilot Assist. ProPilot Assist combines adaptive cruise control and a lane centering system to make highway driving easier. Reverse automatic braking—found in the 2019 Nissan Altima—could be added to the list of available safety features. The Leaf’s multimedia system features SiriusXM satellite radio as well as available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The standard display is a 5.0-inch LCD screen that can be upgraded to a 7.0-inch touchscreen. A 7.0-inch instrument panel display is standard on all trims and a seven-speaker Bose system is available. The NissanConnect app gives owners the ability to connect to the Leaf remotely and view the battery’s charge level and/or charging status, can start vehicle charging, and can turn on climate control. The e-Pedal feature allows for one-pedal driving, meaning the accelerator pedal uses regenerative braking to slow the Leaf down as soon as the driver lifts off the pedal.
